About

Supporting Individuals and Families in Crisis

We recognize that every individual faces moments in life when they need support and care, especially when it comes to their health and well-being. We are here to stand by you during those times, offering a safe and compassionate haven where you can access free and confidential health services.

Our Mission

Boro Women & Family Services is a collaborative Edinboro, PA and surrounding areas organization which provides free and confidential services to educate and empower individuals in making healthy and informed responsible choices.

Our Vision

Boro Women & Family Services aspires to be a center where women and men are nurtured and enabled to reach their life-affirming goals.

Our History

Our organization began in May of 2009 when a steering committee comprised of community business leaders, pastoral council members, and dedicated volunteers came together with a mission in mind. Boro Women & Family Services officially opened its doors in August of 2009, focusing initially on crisis pregnancy needs within the Edinboro community.

As a private entity, we were able to adapt swiftly and effectively to cater to the unique requirements of the community. In 2016, we expanded from a modest 3-room facility to a 7-room suite, thanks to the generous support of a private donor.  With the expansion, BWS evolved into a dynamic social services hub, addressing a broader spectrum of needs.

BWS continued to diversify its offerings, adding non-diagnostic ultrasound services in 2015 and introducing new services annually to address the ever-changing needs of the community. One such addition, the Monthly Diaper Distribution, has made a significant difference in the lives of many families within the Edinboro community.

Our Facility

Conveniently located in the heart of town, Boro Women & Family Services prides itself on its discreet positioning, offering a sense of privacy to individuals seeking its services. The facility has a rich history, once housing a physician’s office and later a psychologist’s office before becoming the home of Boro Women & Family Services. It’s designed for easy access, with all its services situated on a single floor.

The suite boasts a variety of rooms to cater to the diverse needs of the community, making it highly user-friendly. These rooms include a welcoming Waiting Room, the Director’s Office, a space dedicated for Volunteers, a Pantry for storing essential items, a Community Resource Room for secure gatherings and resource access, a Counseling Room offering a comfortable setting for discussions, a Private Ultrasound Room for non-diagnostic ultrasounds, and a versatile Multi-functioning Room suitable for meetings and group activities. This comprehensive setup ensures that Boro Women & Family Services is well-equipped to provide support and assistance to the Edinboro community.
